About Dandelion Chocolate

Since 2012, this has been our flagship location on the buzzing Valencia Street corridor. Inside you’ll find a working chocolate factory; take a seat at the bar to watch our chocolate makers sort, roast, refine, temper, and transform cocoa beans into chocolate onsite. Guests can also enjoy a full cafΓ© serving hot and iced chocolate drinks with homemade marshmallows and whipped cream, coffee drinks, and seasonal pastries we make in our own kitchen. Ample cafe seating is available inside our retail shop of single-origin, two-ingredient chocolate bars and tasting sets, gift boxes in our unique patterned paper, and chocolate candy and confections made in collaboration with local chocolatiers.

Dandelion Chocolate makes a 4oz European sipping chocolate that will give you a few extra hours of life, along with the perfect tofu-looking-not-to-sweet marshmallow and a chocolate shortbread cookie with cocoa nibs. It’s perfect in every way, perfectly balanced. Add to that lovely staff, a solid community table, wifi, good music, and skylights. Delightful.

If you’re planning to visit Dandelion Chocolate, my biggest piece of advice is to double-check which location you’re heading to. We originally went to the location near Union Square, thinking we’d be able to grab pastries and hot chocolate, only to realize it’s primarily a retail shop with chocolate bars and merchandise. We ended up making our way to the Valencia Street location, and I’m so glad we did. We learned that it used to be the original factory before they outgrew the space. Production has since moved a few blocks away, and now this location offers classes, a cafΓ©, and plenty of chocolate treats. While we were there, a chocolate-making class was in session, and it was fun to watch part of it. The instructor even came over to chat with us and answer a few questions, which was such a nice personal touch. We ordered the brownie bite flight along with a hot chocolate, and both were fantastic. The brownie flight was rich, flavorful, and a fun way to sample different chocolates. The hot chocolate came with a tiny cookie that was absolutely delicious. At first, we were a little disappointed because we thought our hot chocolate was supposed to come with a marshmallow and didn’

I came here on Friday night at around 9pm. This is the place to get late night hot chocolate and/or coffee drinks in the Mission. It has a nice list of hot and cold drink options. I ordered a cup of decaf double shot cappuccino. All the drinks come with a little delicious biscuit. The line was non-stop while I was there waiting for my drink, which didn't take long for how busy the place was. This shop also offers pastries and a huge selection of chocolate items, like chocolate bars, boxed chocolate, s'mores kit, etc, and has indoor, outdoor and curbside seating that's next to a bike path, away from the traffic.

This is a rather exceptional chocolate cafe ! The hot chocolate is terrific. I highly recommend the Chefs Tasting.... Great sampler tray. Indoor and some outdoor seating.

I came across this chocolatier and coffee shop in the San Francisco area and decided to give it a try. The place has an impressive and extensive chocolate selection, including chocolate tastings, although we didn’t participate in that during this visit. I ordered an iced mocha, which was absolutely stunning. The quality of both the chocolate and the coffee was top-notch. My only minor critique would be the sweetness β€” I would have preferred it with a little less sugar. However, since I didn’t specify that while ordering, I can’t really hold it against them. Overall, it was a fantastic drink. My friend ordered a regular coffee with milk and sugar and was equally pleased with her choice. In addition to the drinks, I tried one of their chocolate-covered pastries. While it was decent, it didn’t quite stand out, especially compared to other exceptional chocolate pastries I’ve had elsewhere. Despite that, the overall experience was very positive. I’m definitely planning to return to explore more of their chocolate offerings and coffee selections. If you’re a chocolate lover, this place is certainly worth a visit.
